During this fourth and final visit, seniors shared a bit about their high school journey, their plans after graduation, and the teachers who made a difference along the way. They also talked about lessons theyโve learned over the past four years and answered some great questions from the third graders.
After the presentations, students decorated paper graduation caps with their own future goals and aspirations. ๐
A great way to wrap up a meaningful connection between two groups of River Hawks!

By researching and preparing simple, low-cost foods that families often relied on during the 1930s, students explored what daily life looked like during a time of economic hardship. The activity helped students better understand the resourcefulness and resilience people showed during the Great Depression while making a direct connection between historical content and everyday life.

Congratulations to the SAHS Unified Basketball Team! ๐
This March, they won their last home game in front of the student body, 47-44. Our team made great shots, had lots of fun, and the whole school there to cheer them on! Let's give a shoutout to the Messalonskee Unified Team for a great game and their awesome sportmanship. Thank you to all the staff and students that made the atmosphere electric! ๐

Congratulations to Isaac Michaud for being named SAHS's first Community Champion of the school year!
Through his leadership and outreach, Mr Michaud helps bridge the gap between government, education, and civic engagement, ensuring that students see firsthand how public service impacts their daily lives.
As a class advisor for two classes, he is deeply involved in student lifeโsupporting class events, guiding students, and helping young people develop pride and responsibility within their school community. Beyond the classroom, he is organizing an invaluable experience for students to visit the Maine State House, where they will speak directly with state leaders and learn about their day-to-day responsibilities representing the people of Maine.
This hands-on experience allows students to better understand how state government works, how laws are made, and how citizensโespecially young peopleโcan have a voice in shaping the future of their communities. Through his dedication, he continues to strengthen the partnership between MSAD 54, local leaders, and the state government for the benefit of all students.
Thank you for everything you do, Mr Michaud!

๐โจ Our High School Seniors Kick Off the 2025โ2026 Adopt-A-Classroom Program! โจ๐
Earlier this month, our high school seniors launched the Adopt-A-Classroom Program for the 2025โ2026 school year! Through this initiative, seniors partner with third-grade classrooms across the district to build connections and inspire younger students through career and future planning activities.
During each visit, seniors share their own career goals and post-graduation plans, ranging from becoming a neurologist to a nail technician, and lead hands-on career exploration activities designed to spark curiosity and confidence in our third graders.
Sheryl Gray, a third-grade teacher at Mill Stream Elementary in Norridgewock, shared:
โThe kids loved connecting with the older students and had a lot of great questions. They were able to connect with them in a really positive way about their futures and goals. The high school students made the kids feel safe to share their dreams and reassured them that with hard work, they can accomplish anything and that the world needs people in all kinds of careers!โ
Weโre so excited to see this yearโs program underway and to watch our seniors grow as mentors and leaders while helping to inspire the next generation of River Hawks!
