A Community Champion is a person who collaborates with a variety of partners to strengthen school, business, and non-profit relationships for the benefit of the community and our students.

Congratulations to Isaac Michaud for being named SAHS's first Community Champion of the school year!

Through his leadership and outreach, Mr Michaud helps bridge the gap between government, education, and civic engagement, ensuring that students see firsthand how public service impacts their daily lives.

As a class advisor for two classes, he is deeply involved in student lifeโ€”supporting class events, guiding students, and helping young people develop pride and responsibility within their school community. Beyond the classroom, he is organizing an invaluable experience for students to visit the Maine State House, where they will speak directly with state leaders and learn about their day-to-day responsibilities representing the people of Maine.

This hands-on experience allows students to better understand how state government works, how laws are made, and how citizensโ€”especially young peopleโ€”can have a voice in shaping the future of their communities. Through his dedication, he continues to strengthen the partnership between MSAD 54, local leaders, and the state government for the benefit of all students.

Thank you for everything you do, Mr Michaud!

๐ŸŽ“โœจ Our High School Seniors Kick Off the 2025โ€“2026 Adopt-A-Classroom Program! โœจ๐ŸŽ“

Earlier this month, our high school seniors launched the Adopt-A-Classroom Program for the 2025โ€“2026 school year! Through this initiative, seniors partner with third-grade classrooms across the district to build connections and inspire younger students through career and future planning activities.

During each visit, seniors share their own career goals and post-graduation plans, ranging from becoming a neurologist to a nail technician, and lead hands-on career exploration activities designed to spark curiosity and confidence in our third graders.

Sheryl Gray, a third-grade teacher at Mill Stream Elementary in Norridgewock, shared:

โ€œThe kids loved connecting with the older students and had a lot of great questions. They were able to connect with them in a really positive way about their futures and goals. The high school students made the kids feel safe to share their dreams and reassured them that with hard work, they can accomplish anything and that the world needs people in all kinds of careers!โ€

Weโ€™re so excited to see this yearโ€™s program underway and to watch our seniors grow as mentors and leaders while helping to inspire the next generation of River Hawks!

Food Drive
Students from Skowhegan Area High School and Marti Stevens Learning Center spent a Friday in September at the Common Ground Fair in Unity. High school science teacher Kate Drummond brought the schoolโ€™s EcoTeam, Environmental Science class, and any students interested in agricultural careers. Students enjoyed learning about the different facets of sustainable living and organic agriculture, and of course had fun watching the Border Collie demonstration and visiting the different kinds horses!

Our River Hawks had quite the summer tour! ๐ŸŽ’๐ŸŒ

From Utah sunrises to Maine lakeside sunsets, our high school staff took time to rest, explore, and come back stronger.

Weโ€™re back in the building today, prepping for the first day and looking forward to another year of growth, leadership, and River Hawk pride! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฆ…
Seniors, juniors, sophomores, freshmenโ€”get ready. Weโ€™re kicking off something great.
