ECO Team

A service club that addresses issues concerning the well-being of our planet. The club works to do our part in decreasing the impact SAHS has on the environment by maintaining the recycling program and establishing honeybee hives on campus. with others in the group.

Art Club 

Get in touch with your artistic side! The Art Club allows students to express themselves through multiple facets of the art world. Art is displayed in an art show.

Poetry Club 

A group of students who seek to support student poets at SAHS, offering only positive encouragement and comradery. All types of poetry are welcome, as well as all types of poets (and non-poets, too).

Drama 

The Drama Club is a great way for students to express themselves. Whether you would like to be on stage, behind the scenes constructing sets or costumes, or working in the light booth, the Drama Club is the place for you! The drama club produces two to three productions a year.

Yearbook 

If you would like to create a memory for the entire school, consider joining yearbook! This committee designs the yearbook from cover to cover and all the pages in between.

Book Club

Do you enjoy reading and discussing books? Each month students choose a theme, read, and share. Discussion takes place over snacks in a very relaxed atmosphere. Club members also take part in making book selections for the library!

Outing Club 

Looking for a fun way to get outside and play, the Outing Club might just be for you. This is a social club that welcomes all students and staff and seeks to teach outdoor skills in a low-stress, supportive, and non-competitive environment. This club is a collaboration between the high school and the Skowhegan Outdoors/Main Street Skowhegan program. Activities we participate in is driven by student interest.

Olympias Leaders 

At the end of freshman year, five female students are selected by a teacher nomination process to participate in the Olympia Snow Women’s Institute. These students are connected with adult female mentors from diverse backgrounds who meet monthly with the students to work through a three-year leadership curriculum.

Business League 

An organization that competes in academic business competitions where students from Skowhegan compete against students from other local schools in various business categories such as personal finance, accounting, or business math on an individual and team level.

Speech Team

The Speech Team is a competitive public speaking group that takes part in speech tournaments throughout the year. Team members compete as a team and individually in two categories of their choice. There are several categories to choose from, which include Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Extemporaneous Speaking, Poetry, Prose, and many more. Speech is a great way to improve your public speaking skills!

Student Council 

SAHS’ student government! It is composed of students from all four grade levels who are elected by their peers. Student Council sponsors fun activities around the school, like homecoming week and March-madness week, along with community service activities throughout the year. Students may run for a position every year in the spring.

National Honor Society (NHS) 

An organization established to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Our main goal is giving back to the school and community. Students may apply for membership in the fall of their junior or senior year.

Math Team

Do you like math? Become part of the team and compete in math meets against other local schools throughout the school year. The competition covers a wide variety of mathematic areas and is a great way to sharpen your math skills!

The Civil Rights Team

Want to get involved in real-world issues and make a difference at your school? Civil Rights Team Project, a school-based preventative program. The mission of the Civil Rights Team Project (CRTP) is to increase the safety of students by reducing bias-motivated behaviors and harassment in our schools especially those related to race and color, national origin and ancestry, religion, physical and mental disabilities, gender, and sexual orientation.

All music classes that are scheduled during the school day count as one fine arts credit, (one fine arts credit is a graduation requirement).

Band

Band is scheduled during the school day but has concerts throughout the year during after school hours.
